It fastens in the down position and extended position. The swing movement is assisted in both directions by two tension springs which have a load bearing capacity of 22 lb. When lowered into the cabinet they work surface has a clearance height of 15-3/4" (400mm). The tension springs can be attached either before or after mounting the mechanism in the cabinet.
